Hair’s average lifespan is 4 to 5 years before replacement occurs. Approximately ninety percent of a healthy hair sample, will be in their growing phase, which is known as the (Anagen Phase). This is the active phase of the hair.

The cells in the root of the hair are dividing rapidly. A new hair is formed and pushes the club hair (a hair that has stopped growing or is no longer in the anagen phase) up the follicle and eventually out. During this phase the hair grows about 1 cm every 28 days. Scalp hair stays in this active phase of growth for two to six years.

Some people have difficulty growing their hair beyond a certain length because they have a short active phase of growth. On the other hand, people with very long hair have a long active phase of growth. The hair on the arms, legs, eyelashes, and eyebrows has a very short active growth phase of about 30 to 45 days, explaining why they are so much shorter than scalp hair.

The Anagen phase is followed by the catagen phase, a transitional stage. Approximately 3% of all hairs are in this phase at any time. This phase lasts for about two to three weeks. Growth stops and the outer root sheath shrinks and attaches to the root of the hair. This is the formation of what is known as a club hair.

Telogen is the resting phase and usually accounts for 6% to 8% of all hairs. This phase lasts for about 100 days for hairs on the scalp and longer for hairs on the eyebrow, eyelash, arm, and leg. During this phase, the hair follicle is completely at rest and the club hair is completely formed. Pulling out a hair in this phase will reveal a solid, hard, dry, white material at the root. About 25 to 100 telogen hairs are shed normally each day.

Where there is a delay in the growth phase, the visible result as we see it, is hair loss.

The time to be concerned about hair loss is when we lose more than one hundred hairs a day.  It is when those hairs are not replaced that visible thinning occurs, (Telogen Effluvium). `At this stage there is cause for concern.

Thinning hair can indicate a possible internal dysfunction. There are many possible causal factors, and you need to consult your physician if there are any underlying symptoms of ill health. Should this be the case one should seek medical advice.

Lucille Pegg lived in Salisbury Rhodesia at the time she started taking an interest in the treatment of Alopecia. • Beneath all the scams, very little hope was offered to hair loss patients at that time. However, the more Lucille studied Trichology, the more confused she became. Her products were displaying a complete contradiction to what the study material stated.
• There were really not many options that was offered to the clients.  Synthetic hair implants or hair transplants were about the only options apart from ointments from dermatologists that really did not produce hair. Furthermore, some prescribed treatments caused severe irritation and allergic reactions. Synthetic hair implants also proved to be problematic, the scalp could reject the dye in hairs and turn septic.
• Lucille realized to get clarity she would need to conduct her own studies. She solicited the help of Dr Robin Cowper to do some trials.
  • To their amazement all volunteers had different hair loss problems.
  • Dr Cowper suggested that random testing in across different age groups, gender and the various types of hair loss.
  • From their sample population, 89% of patients had strong re-growth results.
  • No side effects were reported and the clients’ bought products after the trial period.
• Excited by these results, Lucille reported their findings on Rhodesia Television (Zimbabwe) talk show and asked some of the trial subjects to appear on the show. She wasn’t ready for what followed, her telephones rang off the hook after the viewers saw the clients’ results
• Lucille was giving testimony to her pioneering work, in that she stated categorically that she thought that the replacement hair cell never died but became inactive and that the natural nutrition her formula was giving the scalp and hair follicles were causing the inactive cells to re-activate. This was in 1978. there were no proven drugs at that time, only in 1999, was her work supported by publications in medical journals, and the press.

I, Dr C L Hostinger, do hereby confirm the trials conducted by me to be a true assessment of my findings.

• The trials were conducted using Hair Fantastique Wonder Hair Treatment to ascertain
• The efficacy of the product for the treatment of Alopecia.
• Fifty volunteers with various types of alopecia were treated with the Hair Fantastique for hair loss
• This consisted topically applied products for the scalp Wonder Hair Treatment Shampoo, Cram and Spray.
• The Object:
  • 1) To test that the product effectively promotes new hair re-growth
  • 2) the product slows down hair loss.
• The patients’ scalps were checked for any scalp disorders and were also questioned as to whether they were on any medication which could cause alopecia.
• The participants were seen at monthly intervals, at which time they were assed.
• The following parameters were assessed each visit
  • 1) Scalp condition
  • 2) General hair condition (hair loss slowing down
  • 3) New Hair Growth
  • 4) Side effects of products, if any
• The patients, aged between 3-62 years were seen for a minimum time of 6 months and a maximum time of eleven months this was subject to their degree of baldness and their condition.
• Patients of all sexes were assessed, and color and hair type were on the trials to assess the product on all ages, hair type and malady to assess their response to the treatment of hair loss.
• There was no discrimination of age or the time period of hair loss as Lucille Pegg suggested we test all trialists regardless. There were no criteria of the above.
• The cases studied were:
  • Men and woman suffering from male and Androgenetic Alopecia (female pattern) baldness (male pattern Baldness)
  • Alopecia Areata: Male, Female and children.
• During the treatment the patients all showed improvement in Hair and Scalp condition.
• My Findings were:
  • New Hair growth on all patients. The quality of hair matched pre-egesting hair.
  • The color of the new Hair growth was the same strength and color of the egesting hair
  • Hair Loss was normalized within three to six weeks
  • No toxic side effects were noted
  • The only side effect brought to my attention was that of itching in one case and the client proved to have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients which they were allergic to
  • The other was a few pimples which Lucille told me to expect from sebum blockage in the hair shaft, once it was expelled it was fine, the patients were told that they were to expect it if they had suffered from hair loss for a long time and were warned to pick at them.
